What is Camp Kesem?

Camp Kesem is a national 501(c)3 non-profit that seeks to provide a network of free, week-long summer camps for children affected by a parent’s cancer. Camp Kesem at Texas A&M University was founded in 2007 and supports children in the Brazos Valley community by providing two separate FREE week-long sessions of summer camp experience and year-long peer support. Camp Kesem at TAMU is operated by 80 student volunteers and serves 190 campers ages 6-18 per year.

While every child experiences a parent’s cancer journey uniquely - regardless of if the parent is in remission, passes away, or is currently undergoing treatment - a child’s Kesem experience, grounded in experiencing the joy of childhood, helps address all of these consequences by providing a community of supportive peers who are just like them.
